Hearts For The Arts is an independent, female-owned art studio founded by Shannon Andrus in 2008. Drawing on her extensive background in art, teaching, and working with artists with disabilities, Andrus strived to create a space where everyone of all abilities can learn and create, together.

In its 16 years of operation, Hearts For The arts has become known for the diversity of HOW and WHO they teach. From international engineers at Steelcase, team members at Gun Lake Casino, young adults from Autism Support of Kent County, and children from Make-A-Wish Michigan, every guest can expect a person-centered approach from the studio's instructors. 

With simple step-by-step instructions, individualized tools and tricks, and plenty of fun, Hearts For The Arts guarantees a great experience and artwork you’ll be proud of.

WHat we offer...

* ARTIST MATERIALS AT NO ADDITIONAL COST

All materials students will need to create their project (including aprons) are included in our class fee. Just bring your creativity!

* A FUN LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

Our beautifully remodeled studio along with our kind and knowledgeable teachers, provide a positive, fun and relaxing learning environment.   

* UNIQUE CLASSES FOR ALL AGES AND ABILITIES

We offer a variety of classes for all ages and abilities. All projects feature simple step-by-step instruction from a professionally trained artist, so no experience is necessary. Techniques include (but are not limited to): acrylic paint, watercolor, graphite/charcoal drawing, string art, weaving, mixed media/collage, mosaics, and more! Our projects change monthly so check our class schedule often.     

* DISABILITY SERVICES

All abilities are welcome to attend any of our classes. We provide professionally trained staff to assist those with special needs. We offer therapeutic art, entrepreneurial training and more during our Art Enrichment Program every Monday - Thursday. We also welcome groups for private classes as well as offer mobile services. * MOBILE SERVICES - WE COME TO YOU!

If you are in the greater Grand Rapids area, we can bring the experience to you! We have nearly 20 years of experience teaching in our community, and have worked with a wide variety of businesses, non-profits and groups. Clients include: Gun Lake Casino, GVSU, Calvin College, GRPS, Kent ISD, Merrel, Frederick Meijer Gardens, General Electric Company, Steelcase International, Make-A-Wish Michigan, Gilda’s Club, Children’s Healing Center, Autism Support of Kent County, and many other organizations and businesses such as restaurants/bars, country clubs, dental offices, nursing homes, group homes and more. With our years of experience, we have the know-how to provide fun, engaging projects and experiences no matter where we go! With our mobile services there is a small loading and travel fee (waived for non-profits). Please call or email for a quote.

* PRIVATE PARTIES

We welcome you to host your private event with Hearts for the Arts. It's the perfect venue for birthday and bachelorette parties, team building activities, fundraisers and non-profit or corporate events. Check out our Private Events page for more information.

* STUDIO RENTAL

Our spacious studio holds up to 65 guests and includes a large, free, parking lot. With our warm and inviting atmosphere, it’s an ideal setting for any occasion. From birthday, graduation, baby and bachelorette parties, to wedding rehearsals, baby gender reveals, and yoga and fitness classes, you can utilize our space to best suit your needs.  * FUNDRAISING

Raise money while having fun by hosting an art FUNdraiser for your organization or group! For non-profits, $10 from every sign up will be donated. Visit our fundraising page for more details.
